Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders reported a 22% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹550 crore for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, driven by sustained momentum in its defence order book.

The Mumbai-based public sector enterprise, which operates under India's Ministry of Defence, also saw revenue climb 12% to ₹2,943 crore for the June-ended quarter.

Despite the strong annual growth, the quarterly profit figure represents a notable sequential decline from the ₹674 crore recorded in the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year.

This dip suggests that while top-line growth remains robust, margin pressures or higher execution costs may be impacting bottom-line performance in the near term.

The results were released after market hours on Wednesday, July 30.

The performance underscores the continued strength of India's domestic defence manufacturing sector, where state-owned yards are benefiting from a government push for indigenous production.
