Michael Cassel has repurchased his namesake entertainment business from private equity giant Silver Lake, regaining full control of the company that produced global hits such as Hamilton and MJ.

The Australian impresario is now seeking new investors to support his ambition of transforming the firm into a "global theatre company."

Cassel originally sold a 51 per cent stake in the business to Silver Lake in 2020.

The buyback marks a significant shift in ownership structure, allowing Cassel to steer the company’s strategic direction without private equity oversight.

The move comes as the live entertainment sector continues to recover and expand post-pandemic, with major productions driving substantial box office revenue.

The acquisition of the majority stake by Cassel signals confidence in the long-term value of his production library and brand.

By bringing in new investors, Cassel aims to scale operations internationally, potentially increasing the footprint of his musicals in key markets across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
