The Moldovan government has imposed a temporary 37-ban per liter increase in commercial margins on diesel, alongside a revised formula for calculating maximum prices, effective for the next 30 days.

The measures are designed to prevent what officials describe as profiteering during the ongoing energy crisis, with strict new restrictions placed on both exports and domestic consumption patterns.

According to Moldova 1, the public broadcaster, the administration stated it would not accept profits made at the expense of the crisis.

The policy shift aims to stabilize local supply by discouraging arbitrage, where fuel is purchased in Moldova and sold at higher prices in neighboring markets.

The 30-day window suggests the government views this as an emergency intervention rather than a permanent structural change to the energy market.

This move mirrors a broader trend of state intervention in fuel markets as global prices remain volatile.
