Energy projects in Mozambique's Rovuma Basin have mobilized more than $50 billion in investment, according to figures shared in Maputo on Tuesday.
The disclosure highlights the sheer scale of capital flowing into the northern province of Cabo Delgado, reinforcing the region's status as a cornerstone of global liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply growth.
Mozambique has previously targeted a mid-2026 final investment decision (FID) for the $30 billion Rovuma LNG project in Area 4.
The investment total encompasses multiple developments in the basin, including the flagship Rovuma LNG project led by ExxonMobil.
While the aggregate figure signals strong industry commitment, the path to production remains complex.
Previous reports have noted significant hurdles facing a separate $20 billion LNG project in the region, underscoring the operational and security challenges that persist in the area.
