The statement marks a notable shift in tone for Maputo, which has previously maintained a hardline stance on tax collection efforts against the Portuguese energy company.
The dispute centers on taxes stemming from Galp's sale of its stake in the Rovuma Basin gas field.
Despite the president's renewed call for talks, the Mozambican government has previously rejected external calls to pause its tax collection activities, insisting that Galp remains fully liable for the outstanding amounts.
This tension has persisted even as the company seeks resolution through legal channels.
Galp initiated international arbitration proceedings against the Mozambican Tax Authority to resolve the longstanding disagreement.
