Adil Chowdhury has stepped down as managing director of National Bank, citing personal reasons.
Chowdhury, who joined the institution in July last year, submitted his resignation to the board of directors earlier this week, according to The Daily Star.
The exit marks another leadership change at a bank that has faced ongoing operational and reputational challenges.
Chowdhury’s tenure lasted just over a year, ending amid a broader period of turbulence for the lender.
The resignation comes as the wider private banking sector in the region grapples with significant executive turnover.
In recent weeks, Axis Bank and Bandhan Bank in India announced the departures of their respective chief financial officers, while Axis Bank also saw the exit of three other senior executives in a single week.
