Nvidia is acquiring $1 billion worth of newly issued shares in South Korea’s Naver, the internet portal operator disclosed in a regulatory filing on Monday.

The equity investment forms part of a broader partnership between the two firms to construct a new data center, marking a direct financial stake by the US chipmaker in one of Seoul’s leading tech platforms.

Naver has previously secured a combined $10 billion investment commitment from Nvidia and private equity firm Brookfield to finance its pivot toward AI infrastructure.

The move signals Nvidia’s strategy to embed itself deeper into the supply chain and infrastructure of key Asian AI adopters.

By taking an equity position rather than merely supplying hardware, Nvidia aligns its interests with Naver’s expansion into AI infrastructure.

This follows closely on the heels of Nvidia sealing a multi-hundred-billion-dollar data center agreement with SK Hynix, another South Korean tech giant, earlier this week.
