The Nigerian Federal Government has approved N46 billion for the resurfacing and reconstruction of the second runway at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA).
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sanctioned the expenditure, which aims to address critical infrastructure deficits at one of the country's busiest aviation hubs.
The funding is part of a broader rehabilitation effort that also covers the primary runway.
The project seeks to enhance operational capacity and safety standards at the airport, which serves as a key gateway to northern Nigeria.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo recently inaugurated the newly remodelled Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the same facility, highlighting the government's focus on modernizing the airport's passenger infrastructure alongside its airfield capabilities.
This investment comes as Nigeria continues to prioritize aviation sector development to support economic growth and regional connectivity.
