The surge follows a sustained improvement in pipeline security and operational stability across the country’s upstream sector.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) attributed the production rebound to enhanced surveillance efforts by the Pipeline Infrastructure Protection Unit (PINL).
These measures have significantly reduced major pipeline infractions, allowing operators to maintain steady flow rates without the frequent disruptions that have historically plagued the industry.
This development adds to the existing supply overhang in global oil markets.
With Nigeria exceeding its production ceiling, the additional barrels contribute to broader inventory builds, potentially capping upside momentum for Brent crude.
