Nigerian security forces have impounded a truck carrying 45,000 litres of adulterated Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in Anambra State.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) confirmed the seizure, noting that the diesel was mixed with gas condensates, a practice that degrades fuel quality and poses safety hazards to engines and infrastructure.
The incident in Anambra follows a pattern of regulatory enforcement across the country.
In recent weeks, Nigerian authorities have intercepted multiple shipments of illicit or mislabelled fuel.
Regulators in Lagos State recently seized two tankers designated for edible vegetable oil that were instead found carrying diesel, while the Nigerian Navy intercepted a vessel with 650 metric tonnes of stolen crude oil in the Niger Delta.
These seizures highlight the ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s fuel supply chain, where illegal bunkering and adulteration remain persistent issues.
The crackdowns signal a coordinated effort by federal agencies to curb illicit trade and protect domestic energy security.
