The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has entered into a partnership with fintech firm Augmont to strengthen the ecosystem for Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs).

The collaboration is designed to increase market participation, improve liquidity, and facilitate wider adoption of EGRs among retail investors, jewellers, and other market participants.

EGRs allow investors to hold gold in digital form, offering a more liquid and accessible alternative to physical bullion.

By integrating Augmont's technology and distribution capabilities, NSE seeks to lower barriers to entry and streamline the trading process for these tokenised assets.

The move aligns with broader regulatory efforts in India to formalise and digitise precious metals trading.

This development follows a period of heightened interest in digital gold instruments across emerging markets.
