Nvidia has extended its artificial intelligence infrastructure reach into Southeast Asia through a new partnership in Batam, Indonesia.
The development involves Australian AI infrastructure provider Firmus Technologies, which has agreed to develop a new data centre in the industrial city in collaboration with Singapore-based DayOne.
Nvidia’s involvement signals a strategic push to embed its hardware and software stack into emerging regional hubs, positioning Batam as a potential AI centre for the ASEAN bloc.
The move comes as Nvidia continues to diversify its global footprint beyond traditional data centre markets.
Just days earlier, the company announced a partnership with Japanese conglomerate Kawasaki Heavy Industries to co-develop AI-powered robots for the shipbuilding industry.
Simultaneously, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the expansion of AI applications beyond data centres during a showcase at a Swiss brewery, illustrating the broadening scope of the company’s technology deployment.
