South Korea’s Naver has secured a $1 billion equity investment from Nvidia, the US chipmaker acquiring newly issued shares in the internet portal operator.

The transaction, disclosed in a regulatory filing on Monday, marks a significant deepening of the strategic partnership between the two technology firms.

The capital injection is part of a broader $10 billion investment commitment for Naver, which also includes backing from US private equity firm Brookfield.

The funds are designated to finance the expansion of Naver’s data center capabilities, aligning with Nvidia’s strategy to embed its hardware and software solutions directly into key regional AI infrastructure projects.

This move follows a rapid series of strategic announcements by Nvidia in South Korea.

Just days earlier, the company sealed a multi-hundred-billion-dollar data center pact with memory giant SK Hynix.
