Pakistan’s Petroleum Division has increased the price of petrol by Rs3.66 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4.80 per litre, effective immediately.
The adjustment, announced on Friday, is valid for the next three days and reflects the ongoing transmission of higher international crude oil benchmarks into domestic retail prices.
The move underscores the persistent pressure on consumer costs in emerging markets as global energy prices remain firm.
Pakistan’s frequent, short-cycle price revisions are designed to keep domestic fuel rates aligned with international market movements, minimizing subsidy burdens but exposing households and businesses to volatility.
This development follows similar price increases in other regions.
Motorists in the Philippines recently faced sharp hikes in gasoline and diesel costs starting July 21, while wholesale fuel prices in Hungary also rose sharply earlier this week.
