Malaysian palm oil futures advanced for a second consecutive trading day, driven by broad-based strength in rival edible oils and supportive crude oil prices.
The September contract on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange gained 41 ringgit, or 0.9%, to settle at 4,574 ringgit per tonne.
The move marks a reversal from earlier weekly weakness, as traders rotated into commodities supported by firmer benchmarks.
Cross-asset momentum from the energy sector provided additional tailwinds, with crude oil prices holding steady and lifting sentiment across the agricultural complex.
This rally follows a period of consolidation for palm oil, which had previously faced pressure from softening rival edible oil prices.
The current uptick suggests that supply-side concerns or broader commodity strength are temporarily outweighing demand-side headwinds in the short term.
