Paramount Global has formally agreed to delay the closing of its proposed $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros.
Discovery until at least June 1, 2027.
The company outlined the new timeline in a recent court filing, stating it will not proceed with the merger until either a federal judge rules on the merits of the ongoing lawsuit brought by a coalition of US states or the June 2027 deadline arrives, whichever comes first.
The decision effectively pauses the transaction for several more months, extending the period of regulatory uncertainty that has already weighed on investor sentiment.
A US federal judge previously extended a temporary injunction blocking the deal, keeping it on hold until at least mid-August.
The latest filing confirms that the parties are prepared to wait out the judicial process rather than force a closing that could be immediately challenged.
