Shares of One 97 Communications Limited, the parent company of Paytm, traded higher on Thursday following the firm's disclosure that its board will convene to consider a bonus share issuance.

The stock touched an intraday high of ₹1,395.90 on the National Stock Exchange before settling at ₹1,372.40, a modest gain of 0.32% from the previous close.

The company informed both the BSE and NSE that the board meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 20.

The primary agenda item is a proposal to issue bonus shares to existing shareholders, subject to necessary regulatory and internal approvals.

Bonus issues are often viewed positively by retail investors as they increase the number of shares held without additional capital outlay, though they do not alter the underlying equity value of the holding.

The market reaction reflects investor appetite for corporate actions that signal management confidence in future cash flows and balance sheet strength.
