The billionaire Perich family has launched a $737 million bid to acquire Australian dairy and plant-based food manufacturer Noumi, aiming to delist the company from the Australian Securities Exchange.

The offer marks the end of a four-decade public listing for the business, which has navigated significant headwinds in recent years, including regulatory disputes and accounting scandals during its tenure as Freedom Foods.

The proposed transaction represents a substantial premium to Noumi’s recent market valuation, reflecting the strategic value the Perich family places on the company’s portfolio of dairy and alternative protein brands.

By taking the firm private, the Perichs can pursue long-term restructuring and operational improvements without the quarterly reporting pressures and short-term market scrutiny that have characterized Noumi’s public life.

Noumi’s journey to this point has been fraught with challenges.

The company, once a dominant force in the Australian grocery sector under the Freedom Foods name, has struggled to regain investor confidence following past governance issues.
