Poland’s government plans to extend caps on fuel prices through the end of the summer holiday season, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced.
The intervention aims to shield consumers from further cost increases during a period of high travel demand.
The decision comes as fuel costs across Central and Eastern Europe face upward pressure.
In Poland, pump prices recently surged by 78 to 91 grosz per liter after the expiration of the previous "Lower Fuel Prices" (CPN) support package.
The sharp jump reflected the return to standard taxation and the transmission of higher global crude benchmarks into local markets.
Regional neighbors are also grappling with rising energy costs.
