Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe (PLZ) has completed construction of a 70-megawatt thermal power station at its Goromonzi site, a critical infrastructure step intended to support increased production capacity.
The facility comes online as the company continues to scale operations in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland East province.
The power station addresses a key bottleneck for mining operations in the region, where reliable energy supply is often a constraint on throughput.
By securing dedicated thermal generation, PLZ aims to stabilize output for its processing facilities, which are central to the company’s strategy of moving up the value chain.
This development aligns with broader structural shifts in Zimbabwe’s mining sector.
The country has recently shipped its first batches of lithium sulphate, marking a transition from exporting raw ore to delivering processed battery materials.
