Punjab National Bank (PNB) is on track to surpass ₹20,000 crore in net profit for fiscal year 2027, according to Managing Director and CEO Ashok Chandra.
The state-owned lender’s leadership expressed strong confidence in the bank’s trajectory, citing consistent financial performance over the last four quarters as the foundation for this ambitious target.
This projection marks a significant milestone in the bank’s ongoing turnaround, signaling a sustained recovery in profitability after years of restructuring efforts.
The outlook follows a robust start to the fiscal year, with PNB reporting a more than three-fold surge in net profit for the first quarter of FY27, reaching over ₹5,200 crore.
The sharp earnings rebound was driven by improved asset quality and operational efficiencies, which have bolstered investor sentiment.
Chandra’s comments reinforce the narrative that the bank’s fundamental health is stabilizing, potentially attracting renewed interest from institutional investors monitoring India’s public sector banks.
