QatarEnergy has extended its force majeure declaration on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to Italy through the end of September, confirming that no further shipments will be delivered during the period.
The state-owned producer announced the extension on Monday, adding three more cancelled cargoes to an already significant disruption that began in April.
In total, 24 LNG cargoes have now been cancelled, representing nearly half of the annual supply volume originally contracted for the Italian market.
The prolonged halt underscores the severity of the supply disruption, which has been linked to damage at production facilities following regional hostilities.
With the force majeure status remaining in place, Italian buyers, including major utilities such as Edison, face continued uncertainty regarding their gas supply mix for the remainder of the summer.
The cancellation of additional cargoes signals that QatarEnergy does not anticipate a near-term resolution to the operational constraints affecting its export capacity.
