Romania’s interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has warned that the country’s strategic fuel reserves are operating at the limit, following Kazakhstan’s suspension of crude oil deliveries through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).
Bolojan stated on Thursday that while Romania does not anticipate immediate supply shortages over the next two weeks, the situation requires close monitoring as domestic stocks dwindle.
The halt in Kazakh exports removes a key supply route for the Black Sea region, compounding existing vulnerabilities in European energy logistics.
Bolojan’s comments signal that while the immediate risk of fuel rationing is low, the buffer against further disruptions has been significantly eroded.
The government is likely to coordinate with regional partners to secure alternative supply chains if the suspension persists beyond the short-term horizon.
