Romania's real estate market remains effectively paralyzed one week after a cyberattack crippled the IT systems of the National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration (ANCPI).
The disruption has halted property transactions nationwide, creating uncertainty for buyers, sellers, and developers who rely on the agency's digital infrastructure to verify land titles and process sales.
Interim Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Irineu Darău, addressed the ongoing crisis in an interview with Digi24, criticizing the agency's preparedness.
Darău stated that ANCPI could have conducted significantly more intensive preventive work to mitigate the impact of the breach.
His remarks highlight growing political pressure on the government to restore services quickly and address systemic vulnerabilities in critical state infrastructure.
The cyberattack, which first emerged in late July, involved the theft of sensitive data from the land registry, which was subsequently listed for sale online.
