Russian equity markets closed with mixed signals on Tuesday, as currency movements once again created a split performance between the country's two primary indices.
The ruble-denominated MOEX Index managed a slight gain, ticking up 0.15% to finish at 2,167.7 points.
In contrast, the dollar-denominated RTS Index fell 0.97%, closing at 881.22 points.
The divergence underscores the ongoing influence of the ruble's exchange rate on market valuations.
The yuan strengthened against the local currency, gaining 14 kopecks to trade at 11.47 rubles.
This currency shift provided a modest lift to the MOEX, which is calculated in rubles, while weighing on the RTS, which is denominated in US dollars.
