Ryanair has confirmed that every aircraft in its fleet is equipped with a defibrillator, following an emergency landing in Marseille where a passenger suffered a medical crisis.
The incident occurred on a flight where a Hungarian cardiologist on board was forced to perform chest compressions on a passenger using only his hands, as the defibrillator was reportedly unavailable or malfunctioning at the time of the emergency.
The aircraft made an unscheduled landing in Marseille to allow medical personnel to treat the patient.
This development adds to a series of operational challenges for the low-cost carrier.
In late July, a Ryanair flight experienced a sudden cabin depressurization caused by a window failure, which resulted in a passenger being partially ejected from the aircraft.
That incident, reported by Italian media outlet Il Messaggero, triggered immediate safety reviews and heightened scrutiny of the airline's maintenance and emergency response procedures.
