Hadi Matar, the man who stabbed author Salman Rushdie on stage in New York in 2022, has been found guilty on federal terrorism charges.
The jury reached its verdict on Wednesday, concluding the trial that followed the attack which partially blinded the novelist.
Matar, 28, was convicted on charges stemming from the incident at a New York arts institute.
Evidence presented during the proceedings indicated that Matar spent more than a year researching the fatwa against Rushdie before deciding to carry out the attack.
The defendant declined to testify or call any witnesses in his own defense.
The conviction marks a significant legal resolution to a case that drew international attention and heightened security concerns for public figures.
