Sri Lanka's Sampath Bank has listed LKR 10 billion ($33 million) of green bonds on the Colombo Stock Exchange, offering yields of 13.00% and 13.25%, according to a stock exchange filing.

The dual-tranche issuance targets investors seeking fixed-income exposure in the island nation's recovering financial sector.

The coupon rates reflect the premium required by local investors for corporate debt, even as the broader economy stabilizes following the severe financial crisis that gripped the country in recent years.

The move comes as Sri Lanka's capital markets gain traction.

The World Bank recently reclassified Sri Lanka as an upper-middle-income economy, a milestone that underscores the progress made in the nation's economic restructuring.

Concurrently, credit rating agencies have begun to recognize the improved standing of local financial institutions, with Fitch Ratings recently assigning a final National Long-Term Rating of A(lka) to a proposed debenture issue by Sri Lanka Commercial Bank.
