Samsung Electronics has launched its Samsung Pay digital wallet service in Greece, marking a significant expansion of its fintech ecosystem in Southern Europe.
The service is now live for consumers holding Visa cards issued by Alpha Bank and Piraeus Bank, as well as for users of Viva.com, the country's primary payment processor.
Transactions are secured using Samsung's proprietary Knox platform, aligning the Greek rollout with the security standards used in other established markets.
The launch underscores Samsung's strategy to deepen its integration with local financial institutions rather than relying solely on global card networks.
By partnering with Alpha Bank and Piraeus Bank, two of Greece's largest lenders, Samsung ensures immediate access to a broad customer base.
The inclusion of Viva.com, which processes the majority of card transactions in Greece, further solidifies the service's infrastructure and acceptance reach.
