Santander has committed to keeping all of its UK bank branches open for at least the next two years, extending the guarantee through 2028.

The pledge covers the entire network, including the branches of TSB, which the Spanish lender acquired earlier this year.

This assurance comes as the bank integrates the smaller lender into its broader UK operations.

The decision marks a notable shift in strategy for a sector that has long pursued branch closures to cut costs and drive digital adoption.

By freezing the network size, Santander is signaling confidence in the continued relevance of physical banking channels for its customer base.

The move also addresses regulatory and political scrutiny often directed at major lenders reducing their high-street presence.
