Saraswat Co-operative Bank has unveiled a strategic roadmap to double its total business volume to ₹2 lakh crore within the next six years.
The plan includes a significant geographic expansion, with the lender aiming to transform from a regional player into a pan-India bank.
Recent reports indicate that other regional players, such as Jammu and Kashmir Bank, have also seen significant growth in their deposit bases, surpassing ₹3 trillion in total business.
Gautam E Thakur, the bank's chairman, outlined the growth trajectory, emphasizing the institution's intent to scale both its deposit and advance portfolios.
The target represents a substantial increase from current levels, reflecting a broader trend among Indian regional lenders seeking to capture market share in underserved areas.
This move aligns with a wider pattern of consolidation and expansion in the Indian banking sector.
