Sber, Russia's largest financial institution, plans to launch a digital depository for cryptocurrency trading by December 1, 2026.

First Deputy Chairman Alexander Vedyakhin confirmed the timeline, stating the bank will build the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the trade.

The move follows the recent adoption of legislation regulating the cryptocurrency market in Russia, which Sber has publicly welcomed as a positive step for the sector.

The development marks a significant expansion of Sber's digital asset capabilities.

By establishing a dedicated depository, the bank aims to provide a secure environment for trading digital currencies, aligning its services with the evolving regulatory landscape.

This infrastructure is expected to support both institutional and retail participants in the Russian crypto market.
