Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told reporters in Kyiv that Minister Snezana Paunovic's ethnic cleansing statement does not reflect his or the policies of the government.

Paunovic told a pro-regime TV that she would have ethnically cleansed the Albanians from her native Kosovo in 1998 if she had been in Milosevic's place.

"It has to be crystal clear that our policies are peace and stability," he added.

Vucic said her statement was "reckless and irresponsible". "It does not refelect the will and policies of the president and government. We have to be responsible. Our policies are dialogue, compromise, talks, never ethnic cleansing," Vucic said.

According to him, Paunovic is a victim of ethnic cleansing. "It has to be crystal clear that our policies are peace and stability," he added.

Commenting the decision to declare Paunovic persona non grata in Kosovo, Vucic said that Pristina declared many Serbian officials undesirable including Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic "who wanted to baptize her child in the Gracanica monastery and was not allowed into Kosovo".

He said that 250,000 Serbs "not Albanians were ethnically cleansed".
