South Indian Bank reported a 17% year-on-year increase in net profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, reaching ₹378 crore.

The Thrissur-based private lender posted the gain against a backdrop of ₹322 crore in net profit for the same period in the previous fiscal year, according to a report by Hindu Businessline.

The improvement was driven by strong asset quality and growth across key business segments.

P R Seshadri, the bank's Managing Director and CEO, highlighted the institution's focus on maintaining credit discipline while expanding its loan book.

The results suggest that regional private banks are navigating the current economic environment with greater stability than previously anticipated.

This performance contrasts with broader sector trends where some lenders have faced margin pressure.
