Sri Lanka’s total export earnings surpassed USD 9 billion during the first half of 2026, marking a significant milestone for the country’s trade sector.
The figure combines merchandise and services exports, reflecting broad-based resilience in the economy’s external accounts.
This acceleration follows a robust performance in May, when goods and services exports expanded by more than 18 percent to reach USD 1.
The result extends a positive trajectory established earlier in the year.
Provisional data from Sri Lanka Customs previously indicated that the export sector had generated more than USD 7.3 billion in the first five months of 2026.
The addition of June’s figures pushed the total past the nine-billion-dollar threshold, signaling continued momentum.
This acceleration follows a robust performance in May, when goods and services exports expanded by more than 18 percent to reach USD 1.57 billion, according to the Export Development Board.
