Toyota Motor Corp and Daimler Truck Holding AG are set to sell their combined stakes in Archion, a transaction valued at up to $1.87 billion.

The move represents a significant restructuring of the joint venture’s ownership, with both automotive giants opting to exit their positions in the company.

The decision to liquidate these holdings suggests a strategic pivot for both Toyota and Daimler.

By offloading non-core assets, the companies may be aiming to streamline their portfolios and focus resources on their primary automotive businesses.

This could also free up capital for other strategic initiatives, such as electric vehicle development, autonomous driving technology, or shareholder returns through dividends and buybacks.

Archion, the target of the divestment, has been a joint venture between the two automakers.
