The Clarity Act previously cleared the Senate Banking Committee in May with a 15-9 vote, supported by two Democrats joining Republicans to advance the legislation.
The bill seeks to define the regulatory roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission over digital assets, a long-standing point of contention in Washington.
The call for passage arrives amid heightened scrutiny of the president’s own financial ties to the industry.
