The Dutch TTF natural gas benchmark has climbed above $750 per megawatt-hour, marking its first excursion past that threshold since March 19.

The sharp rise breaks with typical seasonal patterns, as summer months usually see prices soften while utilities build storage reserves ahead of the heating season.

Instead, the market is pricing in a severe supply constraint for the coming winter.

The repricing follows explicit signals from Russia indicating that Europe faces a "brutal" energy crisis and will engage in a fierce struggle for gas supplies against Asian demand this winter.

This geopolitical framing has accelerated selling pressure on the supply side, forcing European buyers to compete for limited volumes at premium prices.

The surge validates earlier warnings from industry players regarding the fragility of Europe's energy security.
