Most young Ghanaians still aspire to get married and have children, but financial insecurity and unstable employment are preventing many from realising those goals, according to findings highlighted to mark World Population Day 2026. Observed annually on July 11, this year's World Population Day is themed "Realising the hopes and aspirations of young people, today and for the future." The theme is informed by the United Nations Population Fund's (UNFPA) latest report, Lives, Choices and Futures, which draws on its Demographic Futures Survey of more than 108,000 young adults across 73 countries.
