Residential battery storage has become more cost-effective than gas-fired power for meeting peak energy demand for the first time, driven by a global spike in gas turbine prices.
The shift is largely attributed to booming demand from US data centre operators, which has strained global supply chains and pushed up equipment costs, according to a new report from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
