Vnukovo Airport has agreed to acquire a 25.01% stake in Perspektiva LLC, the holding company that manages Domodedovo Airport, for 16.5 billion rubles ($210.2 million).

The transaction, confirmed by both Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo on Tuesday, positions Vnukovo as a co-owner in the joint management of the Moscow hub.

The acquisition comes as Domodedovo faces significant financial headwinds.

Mikhail Vasilenko, CEO of Sheremetyevo Airport, described Domodedovo as an "extremely complex asset" burdened by chronic operational problems, high risks, and substantial debt.

The airport has been posting losses, prompting the need for strategic restructuring and capital support from peers within the Moscow aviation cluster.

This move represents a shift in the competitive landscape of Russia's primary aviation market.
