Icelandic seafood company VSV has agreed to acquire Grupeixe, a Portuguese producer of saltfish products.
The transaction marks a strategic expansion for VSV into the Iberian market, strengthening its position in the European saltfish supply chain.
The target operates under the brand ESBAL, a well-established name in the sector.
According to Vidskiptabladid, Grupeixe CEO Nuno Araújo will remain with the company following the acquisition.
The previous owners of ESBAL, including sales director Agostinho Cunha and CEO Luísa Melo, are also set to continue their roles.
Retaining the existing management team is expected to ensure operational continuity and preserve the company's established relationships within the Portuguese and broader European markets.
