Wonder Cement and Montra Electric have announced the deployment of approximately 250 heavy-duty electric trucks across a 1,450-kilometer industrial corridor spanning four Indian states.

The fleet consists of Montra’s Rhino 5538 EV 4×2 TT models, marking one of the largest long-haul electric freight deployments in the country to date.

The move underscores a structural shift in India’s commercial vehicle sector, where fleet operators are increasingly prioritizing total cost of ownership over upfront capital expenditure.

By electrifying such a lengthy route, the partnership demonstrates that battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles are becoming viable for long-distance logistics, not just last-mile delivery.

This development aligns with broader trends in India’s push for energy independence and reduced reliance on imported fossil fuels.

As domestic manufacturing capabilities for electric commercial vehicles scale, large industrial consumers like cement producers are leading the transition to lower-carbon logistics networks.
