The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved $375.9 million in financing for Pakistan’s Grid Stability Enhancement Project.
The funding is designed to strengthen the country’s electricity transmission network and improve grid reliability across key regions.
Earlier this year, the lender approved a $70 million financing package for the Connected Punjab Programme, which targets broadband expansion and digital public services in the province.
This initiative represents the first phase of a broader 10-year program aimed at modernizing Pakistan’s power infrastructure.
The project focuses on enhancing the stability and efficiency of the national grid, addressing longstanding challenges in power distribution and transmission losses.
The approval follows a pattern of increased World Bank engagement in Pakistan’s infrastructure sector.
