WSP Global Inc. has submitted a new indicative, non-binding takeover proposal for Dutch engineering consultancy Arcadis N.V., raising its offer to €51.50 per share.
The updated bid values the Amsterdam-listed firm at approximately $7.5 billion, representing a significant increase from the previous offer of €48.50 per share that Arcadis had previously rejected.
The move by the Montreal-based company signals a renewed push to acquire the European engineering giant, which has been the subject of takeover interest from multiple parties.
WSP’s decision to increase the price suggests the Canadian firm is prepared to pay a premium to secure a controlling stake in the business, which specializes in infrastructure, environment, and transportation projects.
Arcadis has attracted attention from several bidders in recent months, with WSP emerging as a prominent suitor.
The initial rejection of the lower offer indicated that Arcadis’s board sought a higher valuation or better terms, prompting WSP to recalibrate its approach.
