YPF Energía Eléctrica, the power generation and distribution subsidiary of Argentina’s state-controlled oil giant YPF, has filed for an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange.
The filing, submitted on Monday, marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to access international capital markets and diversify its funding sources beyond domestic channels.
Itaú BBA is among the financial institutions coordinating the offering, according to reports from Infomoney and La República.
The move comes as Argentina’s state-owned energy sector continues to seek ways to finance infrastructure upgrades and expansion projects amid ongoing economic reforms.
By targeting US investors, YPF Energía Eléctrica aims to benefit from deeper liquidity and potentially lower cost of capital compared to local markets.
The IPO filing follows earlier reports that the company had initiated proceedings to list its shares in New York.
