Argentina’s state-controlled energy giant YPF has increased fuel prices by an average of 3.5% to 4.5%, effective 1 July 2026.

The adjustment pushes pump costs higher at a time when President Javier Milei’s administration is under intense pressure to bring monthly inflation below the 1% target.

The price hike underscores the persistent inflationary drag in the Argentine economy, complicating the government’s stabilization efforts.

Despite the administration’s broader push for fiscal discipline and market liberalization, energy subsidies and price controls remain a contentious lever.

The increase suggests that the state-owned operator is adjusting to underlying cost pressures rather than passing on savings to consumers.

This move follows warnings from YPF leadership that relief for motorists is not imminent.
