The Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe has called for a significant increase in investment in mineral exploration, arguing that sustained geological work is essential to unlock the full value of the country's untapped resources.

The industry body emphasized that current production levels are insufficient to maintain Zimbabwe's status as a leading global mining hub without new discoveries to replace depleting reserves.

The call for action comes as the sector faces mounting pressure to address resource depletion.

According to the Chamber, the ongoing crisis in the mining sector should be viewed not just as a challenge, but as an incentive for both the government and private investors to intensify exploration programs.

These programs are critical for discovering new mines that can sustain future production levels and attract international capital.

The government has previously been urged to accelerate initiatives aimed at promoting mineral exploration.
