US nuclear technology firm BWX Technologies has agreed to sell its medical business to private equity group Nordic Capital in a transaction valued at up to $800 million (approximately SEK 7.7 billion).

The deal signals a strategic refocusing for BWX, which is shedding its healthcare segment to concentrate on its core nuclear operations.

48 billion in the 12 months ending July 2026, underscoring a decisive shift in investor sentiment toward the sector.

The agreement comes amid a wave of consolidation in the nuclear and radiopharmaceutical sectors.

Earlier this year, Curium agreed to acquire radiopharmaceutical company Lantheus Holdings in a deal valued at up to $8 billion, highlighting the intense competition for high-value medical assets within the broader nuclear industry.

Global capital allocation to nuclear fusion energy also reached a record $4.48 billion in the 12 months ending July 2026, underscoring a decisive shift in investor sentiment toward the sector.

Nordic Capital’s acquisition of BWX’s medical unit reflects the growing appetite among private equity firms for specialized healthcare technologies.
