Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production has introduced the world's first trimaran crew vessel to transport workers to its drilling platforms in the Gulf of Thailand.
The deployment marks a significant shift in offshore logistics for the operator, replacing conventional crew boats with a high-speed, three-hulled design intended to improve transit times and safety margins in the region's waters.
Chatit Huayhongtong, president of Chevron Thailand, stated that the company is accelerating its adoption of advanced technology to strengthen Thailand's long-term upstream energy security.
The move aligns with broader industry efforts to modernize offshore support fleets, where efficiency gains in crew transfer can directly impact operational uptime and cost structures for deepwater and shallow-water assets alike.
The introduction of the trimaran vessel coincides with Chevron's rollout of its Integrated Operations Center, a digital hub designed to monitor and coordinate offshore activities in real time.
By combining physical infrastructure upgrades with digital oversight, the operator seeks to mitigate risks associated with weather disruptions and mechanical failures, which have historically plagued crew transfer operations in the Gulf of Thailand.
